The Swedish hydrogen technology company Hyrizeon AB and the leading global actor in renewable energy RWE have partnered to develop Ljuskällan, a green industrial cluster in Ljusdal, Sweden. The cluster integrates energy production, industry, and community collaboration to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and create long-term value.

The cluster is based on locally produced wind power, reducing exposure to volatile spot market electricity prices. Instead of selling the wind energy externally, it is used directly within the cluster’s production units, converting locally generated energy into stable revenues, green products, and jobs. At the core of the cluster is hydrogen production, which balances variable wind power generation with the cluster’s electricity needs. The hydrogen produced enables, among other things, the production of ammonia, methanol, and other electrofuels for industry and transport sectors, as well as circular energy use.
“Ljuskällan is an example of how wind power, hydrogen, and industry can create new value locally. We are building a model where electricity is used smarter, industrial growth is enabled within the region, and companies can scale on market terms”, says Axel Alm, CEO of Hyrizeon.
Investing in Ljuskällan is not only about financial return; it represents a new type of industrial collaboration in Ljusdal Municipality that also generates regional societal benefits such as job creation, business opportunities, skills development and a more stable local economy.
“Ljuskällan is more than an industrial project – it is an investment opportunity where green energy combined with hydrogen creates competitive market returns,” continues Axel Alm. “Together with RWE, we want to show how the green transition can deliver both climate impact and regional growth.”
